Jordyn Tyson will take pre-draft visit with Saints

The Saints continue to have a strong eye on this year's class of wide receivers.

One of the top players in this year's class, Arizona State's Jordyn Tyson, is set to visit with the team. The 6-foot-2, 203-pound receiver might be the most gifted in this year's group, which also includes Carnell Tat…

Saints pick up Bresee's option

The Saints have picked up the fifth-year option on Bryan Bresee's contract, I'm told.

A former first-round pick, Bresee left on a strong impression on the Saints last season despite only logging 2.5 sacks, down from 7.5 the year before. New Orleans felt he played a more well-rounded brand of footb…

Ohio State WR Carnell Tate to visit Saints

The Saints are bringing in Ohio State receiver Carnell Tate in for a top-30 visit, according to a source.

Here's what stands out about Tate: He's a legit boundary receiver at 6-foot-2 and 192 pounds with a 78-inch wingspan, and he uses every inch of it. He caught 51 passes for 875 yards and nine to…

Moore sees AK in the mix

Kellen Moore said he plans on having Alvin Kamara in the running back room and thinks he and Etienne can fit together well.

-Moore said they're still talking to Cam Jordan but nothing to report there yet.

-He also noted that the team will be looking to hold joint practices this camp.

What kind of WR do they need?

Everybody feels strongly that the Saints need new blood at WR. I don’t exactly disagree, though I’d say they spent much of last year investing in low-risk flyers at that position, and any of them could show up all of a sudden.  But it’s a universal belief that this isn’t good enough (actual Saints staff notwithstanding).

So what type of WR are they lacking, in your opinion?

I believe that Olave would be best as a slot-heavy intermediate receiver, and that a true X would be the most useful addition (like almost all teams probably). But as the Saints don’t seem anxious to relegate Olave to that role, and they do have a “big slot” in Vele and a potential legit journeyman in Polk, I kind of think that a real slot receiver would add the most to the dynamic. A sub-6’, 210lb buy who can move under the coverage in mesh and multi-level routes, and maybe avoid a tackle sometimes. Beyond that, I think the next greatest need is a perimeter blocker, ala Trequan.  I think skill players who can block and an… I don’t know, an “Alvin Kamara-esque” receiving back would be more useful than anything other than a big, fast dude who can run all the routes and beat double-coverage… which is something everybody is looking for, all the time.

So, fantasy successes aside, which kind of player should the Saints be aiming for?
